German drill rig manufacturer Klemm Bohrtechnik has released its latest compact class machine, the KR 800-3G, suitable for installing micropiles, anchors and soil nails in confined spaces.

The KR 800-3G is the latest drill rig in the Klemm compact class product range. With an operating weight of 10t, the KR 800-3G is the lightest and smallest model in the Klemm 800 series.

Based on a pendulum chassis, the KR 800-3G features a powerful powertrain and flexible kinematics. It has a total width of 1.8m and comes with an adjustable mast for different stroke lengths. It also offers the option of mounting various rotary heads or hydraulic drifters - for both single- and double-head drilling.

As a result, the KR 800-3G meets a wide range of requirements for drilling in confined spaces. The drill rig can be used for installing micropiles, anchors and soil nails, as well as underpinning and other types of injection drilling.

The rig’s “Rollover” kinematics enable anchor drill positions at angles of between 0º and 90º. When drilling purely vertically, drilling points up to around 400mm away from the outer edge of the tracks can be reached.

The mast comes with a modular, adjustable clamping and breaking unit, which enables the mast to be set up in six different overall lengths between 3,350mm and 5,000mm.

With a retraction force of 60kN, the type 162-3 drill mast system offers reserves for larger drilling diameters of up to 10in (254mm) and is suitable for more demanding geological conditions.

By using the drilling rig’s remote control unit with display, the drill operator can assume a safe working position around the machine.

The rig’s 100kW diesel engine complies with EU V and Tier 4f emissions standards.

The machine also comes with a Power Sharing feature, developed by Klemm, and an Energy Efficiency Package, an integrated standard feature on Klemm drill rigs.

The KR 800-3G rig was first showcased at the Geofluid show in Italy last year.

Klemm Bohrtechnik is part of the Bauer Group of companies.
